Pirate Themed Wedding

The other day I was catching up with good friends and I was pleased to hear the topic of weddings come up. Nothing thrills me more than helping friends plan a wedding and we all know I’m a huge fan of theme parties. However, when the words “Pirate Themed Wedding” were spoken I had visions of cheesiness in my head. Thus I took it upon myself to marry the sophistication of a wedding with the fun of a pirate theme.
Here’s my inspiration board:

It’s all about the cake! It’s fun, it’s sophisticated, and it sets the tone and color scheme for a pirate inspired wedding. It’s wonderful to incorporate a theme, but don’t let it take center stage. Remember a wedding is a day to celebrate the bride and groom. Take cues from you theme to help enhance your wedding decor. For example, the plume of pirate’s hat, see how it’s used in the red roses centerpiece as well as the bridal bouquet. Use aged looking nautical maps as the back drop to your wedding invitations. You can mail them to guests in plastic bottles no need for extra boxing just write the address directly to the bottle and use adequate postage. Add a touch of whimsy with the skull and cross bones ties and brooch attached to the garter. If you’re having an intimate wedding consider having the ceremony aboard a ship. Also keep in mind it’s not pirate’s life without a little yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. Keep the alcohol simple and create a signature rum drink to sever to your guests topped off with “bone chilling” ice cubes.

Eclipse Premiere

The Perfect Place, Catie’s Creations, and the Port Orchard Pavilion were all featured in the What’s Up Kitsap section of the local paper today. We are so excited to be able to work along side the Kitsap Regional Library and roll out the red carpet for Twilight fans as they await the midnight premiere of Eclipse. Come out and join the fun! There will be door prizes, red carpet photos, plus T-shirts and other goodies for sale. Tickets for the special premiere are still available, but are going fast so be sure to get yours today. 

Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries

Serve this simple dessert to impress your guests at your next party.

Ingredients:
1 quart fresh strawberries

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Beat together cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar with electric mixer.

Cut the end from the strawberry so it will stand on a plate, and remove the top. Angle your knife to create a hole for the filling.

Pipe the filling into your strawberries. You can use a pastry bag or cut the corner from a Ziploc baggie.

Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour and enjoy!

Kitsap Regional Library Presents The Twilight Saga Party

As twilight falls upon Kitsap County, come and gather with other twilighters to enjoy an evening of food, games, pictures and so much more. Whether you are Team Edward, Team Bella, or Team Jacob come to the Pavilion in Port Orchard. Gift bags, T shirts, games, prizes, drinks and food will be offered as a count down to Eclipse begins. If you are a fan of the series, this event should not be missed. All to benefit your library!

The doors open at 6:30 for all ages and from 9:00-11:30 for adults only.

It was so wonderful to see all those who stopped by our booth at Girls’ Night Out last Thursday. Your support in helping to fight breast cancer is greatly appreciated. Be sure to mark you calendars for the next event in October (we’ll keep you posted too).

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and I would like to say a special thank you to my mother Mary. She plays a major roll at The Perfect Place. Mary creates the majority of our costumes as well as our special table linens. Her hard work and creativity make your parties truly special and unique!

In honor of Mother’s Day this month’s creative tip is to add a little something extra to all the beautiful flowers given to those we care about.

Simply place a copy of a photo (printed on photo paper) in a clear vase. Play around with various shapes and sizes to find a look that you like. Arrange flowers and add water. This idea can be used as arrangements for baby showers, engagement parties, or make a creative place card/favor for your guests at your next dinner party.

Easter Fun

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and we wanted to share with you a last minute quick and easy way to add a little whimsy to the table. The best part is that we’ve used items that you probably already have in the house. We used glasses of various heights and filled them with plastic Easter eggs and tissue paper to add some color and height to the table. Our napkin ring is a piece cut from a paper towel roll and the napkin is from a yellow set of dish towels. We use a piece of tape to stick the peep on the napkin ring (we didn’t want to use glue because we know the kids will want to eat it). Scrapbook paper makes wonderful placemats, but if you don’t have any in your house you could use another colorful dish towel or tissue paper. Nothing goes better with Hot Cocoa than Marshmallows so why not add a Marshmallow Peep! Add some plastic grass around the bottom of your mugs and voila! Instant Easter Whimsy and only a few dollars spent.
