{Halloween} Decoration Inspiration

Awhile ago I came across this idea from Rachel Ray and tucked it away in what I refer to as my inspiration file.
Last year when I was shopping for my first annual witches social I found some really cool Halloween candles.

The price tag on them however, was not cool. I don’t have a problem splurging once in awhile, but for the most part I’m a frugalista.

Now that October is beginning I’ve only got a few weeks to start planning for this year’s witches social. I’ve been rummaging through my party supplies trying to use what I already have to decorate for this event. I never forgot those candles and I’ve been thinking about how I could recreate the look on my zero dollar budget. That’s when this idea occurred to me:
Not exactly the same as the other candles, but I’m pleased with the outcome and they will fit in perfectly with my party scheme.

New Blogger on the Block

When I first created this blog it was an easy format to share information with clients. However, I’ve since discovered the amazing world of party bloggers thanks to Michelle at Maddycakes Muse. There is so much creativity out there and I want to share it with you. I have always gotten my inspiration from magazines, restaurants, and items found on shopping excursions. Now thanks to some really amazing party bloggers a whole new world of inspiration has come into my life.

I hope to inspire others as well as I share my parties and the events that I love participating in here in my community.

Speaking of sharing here is a party that I’m bananas about! Read all about the details and view more photos on Michelle’s blog here.

Pirate Themed Wedding

The other day I was catching up with good friends and I was pleased to hear the topic of weddings come up. Nothing thrills me more than helping friends plan a wedding and we all know I’m a huge fan of theme parties. However, when the words “Pirate Themed Wedding” were spoken I had visions of cheesiness in my head. Thus I took it upon myself to marry the sophistication of a wedding with the fun of a pirate theme.
Here’s my inspiration board:

(I’ve lost the original photo locations please email me and I will gladly post the credit information)

It’s all about the cake! It’s fun, it’s sophisticated, and it sets the tone and color scheme for a pirate inspired wedding. It’s wonderful to incorporate a theme, but don’t let it take center stage. Remember a wedding is a day to celebrate the bride and groom. Take cues from you theme to help enhance your wedding decor. For example, the plume of pirate’s hat, see how it’s used in the red roses centerpiece as well as the bridal bouquet. Use aged looking nautical maps as the back drop to your wedding invitations. You can mail them to guests in plastic bottles no need for extra boxing just write the address directly to the bottle and use adequate postage. Add a touch of whimsy with the skull and cross bones ties and brooch attached to the garter. If you’re having an intimate wedding consider having the ceremony aboard a ship. Also keep in mind it’s not pirate’s life without a little yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. Keep the alcohol simple and create a signature rum drink to sever to your guests topped off with “bone chilling” ice cubes.
