Winter Wonderland Tea Party

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the party inside is so delightful. Last weekend I had the pleasure of putting together a Winter Wonderland Tea Party for a 12 year old girl and her friends.

They had fun getting all dolled up in feather boas and beaded jewelry. I also dressed up some headbands with white poinsettias and tulle. I thought they turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

Tea was the main event however I did have the girls play a version of project runway. It’s was amazing to see the creativity come out when they only had crepe paper and foil to work with.

Looking forward to sharing more parties with you.

Birthday Parties and Fashion Shows!

Today my husband asked me what the next event was that I had coming up. I told him my weekend was free and he asked if I was feeling okay. That’s because I have been working on birthday parties and special events since October and it has all been very exciting. It has also been keeping me very busy thus the lack of posts to my blog.

Here is a quick snapshot (all I had time for) of the birthday party that was held at the Port Orchard Pavilion. I’ve been working with Leah the manager on some birthday packages which I will be promoting soon.

I also had the pleasure of helping out with a launch party and fashion show for Hoochieware. Hoochieware is a new clothing line that donates 100% of net proceeds to Point Hope a non-profit organization helping women and families in the U.S. and West Africa. The clothing line can be found online, but if you live in the area you can find it at That’s Beautiful on Bay Street in Port Orchard. If you haven’t been in the shop yet I encourage you to pop in. Be sure to visit Hoochiware online too currently they are offering Free Shipping and 30% Off your Entire Purchase.

Hope you and your family are having a wonderful Holiday Season!

Celebrating at Farm Kitchen

This month I celebrated my birthday at one of my favorite places known as Farm Kitchen. Farm Kitchen is a beautiful venue that’s popular for weddings and other special events like the sips and appetizers party my husband and I attended.

We tasted some delicious appetizers such as:

Roasted Red Pepper Soup, Goat Cheese Rolls, & Hummus with Pomegranate

Mini Shrimp Cocktail, Peppered Beef Tenderloin,
& Filo Tartlets with Chicken
The drink is an Herbed White Sangria and it was Fantastic!

For dessert we had Apple Dumplings, Cranberry Shortbread Cookies w/Chocolate Ganache, & a Cornmeal Currant Cookie

Aside from tasting all the delicious food the best part was learning how to put the dishes together and being sent home with all the recipes.

I have more parties to share with you, but for now I hope you and your family have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!

Blog Love and Amazing Pancakes!

Today I was following up with some of my favorite blogs and I came across a post on WhipperBerry’s blog about Jim’s Pancakes. His pancakes are works of art and I love that it all started because he wanted to make some cool pancakes for his daughter.

And here I was all impressed with myself for making these Star Wars pancakes for my husband a few weekends ago.

Be sure to check out Jim’s blog here

Also, check out the stunning dessert table that WhipperBerry put together for Michelle from MaddyCakes Muse.

I just love the shot glasses and the use of the chandelier on the table. It has inspired me to get creative with a wire chandelier I have that is collecting dust.

Fancy Nancy Soiree!

Ooh La La it was a Fancy Soirée for a special little girl’s birthday!

The girls had fun decorating their wands with jewels and glitter stickers. The boys added some pizzazz to their tops hats.

Afterwards we played a game of memory, bean bag toss, and guess the Fancy item. This game was a hit even the boys had fun guessing.

I wish I had more photos to share, but as always it was a whirlwind of fun to be had.

Now it’s on to the next party. I’m excited to be working with a lady bug theme with a fancy twist!

Delilah's Halloween Bash!

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day or should I say later today. I’m excited to be a part of Delilah’s Annual Halloween Bash. This year’s theme is a Masquerade Ball and the proceeds are going to Point Hope. Here is a behind the scenes sneak peek of the amazing backdrop that is being painted for the event on Saturday.

I’ll post some more photos of the Mad Scientist Lab that I’m setting up for the kids.
PHOTO UPDATE

The kids loved our Mad Scientist Mr. Frank N. Stein

Bewitching Hour Halloween Party and Gal Pal Gathering

I’m pleased to say that I’m a proud Navy wife and I’m also a small business owner who truly enjoys giving back to my community whenever possible. Recently I’ve been talking with some of my other friends in business about how there is a definite need to bring women together to have fun, make new friends, and to showcase our products and services in relaxed atmosphere. Together we came up with the idea of hosting a monthly Gal Pal Gathering.

The Perfect Place hosted the kick of event last Friday and I decided to incorporate it with my annual Bewitching Hour Halloween party. We all had a great time and a lot of wonderful ideas were discussed for future events.

Here is some additional information about Gal Pal Gatherings:

What is it? A monthly gathering of gal pals that are interested in having fun, making new friends, and getting to know local businesses in the community.

How did Gal Pal Gatherings get started? We (local business owners) wanted to reach out to the women of our community to let them know who we are and what type of services and products we can provide. More importantly we wanted to create a way for women to take time out from daily stress and have some fun while getting to know others in the community.

Who puts on the gatherings? Gal Pal Gatherings are hosted by various business owners or by “gals” who have a fun activity/event they want to share with others.

How can I attend? Gal Pal Gatherings are by invitation only you must be invited by the host for the evening or be on your friend’s guest list. Once you have attended a gathering you will receive a personal invitation for future events and are welcome to invite your friends too.

Is there a fee? No, Gal Pal Gatherings are FREE. However, a fee may apply to partake in special events happening that evening for example pedicures, custom t-shirt making etc. (this information will be provided in the invitation and participation is always optional)

Will refreshments be provided? Refreshments may be provided depending on who the host is for the evening. Other times guests may be asked to bring an appetizer to share.

What type of gatherings will there be? Each month the gathering will be created around a theme. For example, glitz n’ gloss, cookie exchange, swap parties etc.

Stay tuned to see what we're planning for November.

Monster Bash/Mad Scientist Birthday Party

It was a busy weekend here at The Perfect Place. On Friday I hosted my annual witches’ social. I’ll blog more about it once I receive the photos from my photographer.

Saturday was a Monster Bash/Mad Scientist birthday party for a lucky 7 year old. The birthday boy and the guests all had a great time. The science experiments where a huge hit. The kids got to make their own slime, play with magic sand, and learned how to blow up balloons with vinegar and baking soda. In addition to the science experiments the kids played a game of pin the eye ball on the monster.

After we cleaned up the “lab” everyone enjoyed some monster munch, mummy dogs, marshmallow pops, and petri dish jello.

I was pleased that the kids liked the cauliflower “brains” and beet “heart”. I personally liked the furry monster table cloth with the googly eyes.

I have another Halloween party that I’m working on and I think the mad scientist lab will be the perfect activity to incorporate into the event.

Bras for a Cause

Tonight I attended another wonderful event called Bras for a Cause. It’s put on by a local women’s group of business professionals. Bras are decorated and donated to be auctioned off along with other items to raise money to help women and children in our community. I participated last year by donating a bra. It was so much fun that I had to get involved again this year.

my 2009 entry

Here’s a photo of the bra I decorated for tonight's event

And here are some of the other entries

Looking forward to next year's event!
