Delilah's Halloween Bash!

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day or should I say later today. I’m excited to be a part of Delilah’s Annual Halloween Bash. This year’s theme is a Masquerade Ball and the proceeds are going to Point Hope. Here is a behind the scenes sneak peek of the amazing backdrop that is being painted for the event on Saturday.

I’ll post some more photos of the Mad Scientist Lab that I’m setting up for the kids.

Bewitching Hour Halloween Party and Gal Pal Gathering

I’m pleased to say that I’m a proud Navy wife and I’m also a small business owner who truly enjoys giving back to my community whenever possible. Recently I’ve been talking with some of my other friends in business about how there is a definite need to bring women together to have fun, make new friends, and to showcase our products and services in relaxed atmosphere. Together we came up with the idea of hosting a monthly Gal Pal Gathering.

The Perfect Place hosted the kick of event last Friday and I decided to incorporate it with my annual Bewitching Hour Halloween party. We all had a great time and a lot of wonderful ideas were discussed for future events.

Here is some additional information about Gal Pal Gatherings:

What is it? A monthly gathering of gal pals that are interested in having fun, making new friends, and getting to know local businesses in the community.

How did Gal Pal Gatherings get started? We (local business owners) wanted to reach out to the women of our community to let them know who we are and what type of services and products we can provide. More importantly we wanted to create a way for women to take time out from daily stress and have some fun while getting to know others in the community.

Who puts on the gatherings? Gal Pal Gatherings are hosted by various business owners or by “gals” who have a fun activity/event they want to share with others.

How can I attend? Gal Pal Gatherings are by invitation only you must be invited by the host for the evening or be on your friend’s guest list. Once you have attended a gathering you will receive a personal invitation for future events and are welcome to invite your friends too.

Is there a fee? No, Gal Pal Gatherings are FREE. However, a fee may apply to partake in special events happening that evening for example pedicures, custom t-shirt making etc. (this information will be provided in the invitation and participation is always optional)

Will refreshments be provided? Refreshments may be provided depending on who the host is for the evening. Other times guests may be asked to bring an appetizer to share.

What type of gatherings will there be? Each month the gathering will be created around a theme. For example, glitz n’ gloss, cookie exchange, swap parties etc.

Stay tuned to see what we're planning for November.

Monster Bash/Mad Scientist Birthday Party

It was a busy weekend here at The Perfect Place. On Friday I hosted my annual witches’ social. I’ll blog more about it once I receive the photos from my photographer.

Saturday was a Monster Bash/Mad Scientist birthday party for a lucky 7 year old. The birthday boy and the guests all had a great time. The science experiments where a huge hit. The kids got to make their own slime, play with magic sand, and learned how to blow up balloons with vinegar and baking soda. In addition to the science experiments the kids played a game of pin the eye ball on the monster.

After we cleaned up the “lab” everyone enjoyed some monster munch, mummy dogs, marshmallow pops, and petri dish jello.

I was pleased that the kids liked the cauliflower “brains” and beet “heart”. I personally liked the furry monster table cloth with the googly eyes.

I have another Halloween party that I’m working on and I think the mad scientist lab will be the perfect activity to incorporate into the event.

Bras for a Cause

Tonight I attended another wonderful event called Bras for a Cause. It’s put on by a local women’s group of business professionals. Bras are decorated and donated to be auctioned off along with other items to raise money to help women and children in our community. I participated last year by donating a bra. It was so much fun that I had to get involved again this year.

Looking forward to next year's event!

Girls Night Out & Party Staging

Thursday was Girls Night Out a big event here in Kitsap County to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. The Perfect Place was a proud sponsor and we had a wonderful time talking with the ladies and crafting with the kids. During the event I had the pleasure of meeting Roberta Anderson a professional stager and facebook fan of The Perfect Place. While Roberta stages your home to make it more appealing to potential buyers I stage your parties to make them spectacular for you and your guests.

The true heart of a party is bringing family and friends together to celebrate special moments in our lives. There are no rights or wrongs when you have these key ingredients. Just like there are no rights or wrongs when it comes to living in our homes. However, when you want to sell your home it’s time to stage it so it’s “dress to impress” and when you want to create something special for your party guests it’s all about staging too.

my husband and I

The number one thing people were most impress with at my booth during girls night out were the water bottles. Yup, water bottles. Why? Because I made them a décor feature by removing the labels and replacing them with pretty scrapbook paper in pink of course. What really surprised me were the little details that really mattered to everyone. For example, I gave away white take out boxes with candy. All the boxes were wrapped in pink ribbon and had a scalloped pink circle paper punch out on the top and the only difference between them were the breast cancer stickers that I placed on top. Some were pink ribbons and others had words that said hope, strength, and survivor. That one little detail made people stop and ponder which box they wanted to take.

Here is today’s Halloween inspiration that shows how a little staging can make all the difference in making something ordinary into something extraordinary.

The re-sealable bags were found in the beading section of the craft store and the tops are place cards I found at Michaels on sale for $0.49. You can also use scrap paper if you can’t find the place cards (especially if you live in Kitsap because I bought all they had, sorry).

I’ll have more party staging and Halloween tricks and treats for you after my Witches Social on Friday. Plus some behind the scenes party prep for the monster bash/mad scientist birthday party I’m planning for a Jr. Client. I think of the kids as Jr. Clients since the parties are for them after all.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Time to Step It Up

I’m sad to say that I don’t have very many photos from my client parties due to the fact that I don’t post photos of the kids unless I have written permission from the parents. Not to mention that I am so busy playing my role as party host that I rarely get a free moment to act as photographer. Thankfully I’ve made a new friend her name is Elaine and she is the owner and photographer of Elaine Turso Photography. Elaine and I are participating in a local event called Girls Night Out. It’s a fundraiser to help support the fight against breast cancer. This event is a lot fun and over a 1000 women came through the doors in April. For the upcoming event on Oct. 7th Elaine created these wonderful collages from past events that I will be displaying at my booth.
This was a trail run for the girls night out event. I’m so glad Elaine took photos for me because it’s amazing what your eye sees once you’ve captured your work on film. I see empty space that need to be filled on the actual day of the event.

This is the little guy who crashed the party. He may work for peanuts, but I don't (okay sometimes I do).

Now that I’m working with Elaine I will be sure to have lots and lots of photos of my parties to share with you.
